{"id":1361,"date":"2017-06-25T15:58:18","date_gmt":"2017-06-25T13:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ipe.hr\/en\/?p=1361"},"modified":"2017-09-12T14:47:19","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T12:47:19","slug":"ipe-at-the-international-municipal-summit-fearless-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipe.hr\/en\/activities\/ipe-at-the-international-municipal-summit-fearless-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"IPE at the International Municipal Summit &#8220;Fearless Cities&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 9 to 11 June, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipe.hr\/en\/vedran-horvat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vedran Horvat<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipe.hr\/en\/tomislav-tomasevic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tomislav Toma\u0161evi\u0107<\/a> attended the International Municipal Summit\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/fearlesscities.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fearless Cities<\/a>&#8221; \u00a0in Barcelona. The summit was organized by the municipal progressive political platform <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonaencomu.cat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barcelona en Com\u00fa<\/a>, which won the local elections in May 2015 and its leader Ada Colau became the mayor of Barcelona. The successful model of political organizing represented by Barcelona en Com\u00fa also happened in other Spanish cities, most notably in Madrid &#8211; the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/ahoramadrid.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahora Madrid<\/a>\u00a0won the elections that same year and Manuela Carmen became the mayor. Ada Colau and Manuela Carmen opened the summit, and were joined by the leaders of other progressive cities around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Tomislav Tomasevic gave a presentation entitled &#8220;Creating Non-State Institutions: Between the State and the Non-State in Croatia&#8221;\u00a0at a panel discussion on June 10. The presentation tackled examples of creating hybrid forms of commons management by institutions are between state and non-state. He gave examples of physical space and water resources management in Zagreb and Pula.<\/p>\n<p>Iva Mar\u010deti\u0107 and Teodor Celakoski from <a href=\"http:\/\/pravonagrad.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Right to the City<\/a> also participated in the summit.
