On February 20th IPE joined the hybrid GreenPaths seminar “Steering the Just Transition” organised by the University of Amsterdam that presented the results of WP4.
Vedran Horvat held a presentation on the future of green transition in the EU, underlining current obstacles and barriers for the continuation of a successful green transition and showing potential pathways. The metaphor of “Upside Down” green transition (an allusion to Stranger Things) attracted the attention of participants around various fundamental contradictions on how green transition is being delivered across Europe, particularly related to growth being the central objective sidelining environmental and social well-being, which were initially the key objectives of just green transition.
