Together with several European partners, we organized the ninth edition of the Green Academy entitled “Stay with the trouble!”.
For a couple fo days at the end of August 2024 in Komiža, around a hundred activists, experts, researchers and politicians from 15 countries talked and discussed the challenges related to the climate crisis, new raw material mining projects in Southeast Europe, development of municipalism, degrowth and the commons.
The keynoters were Tine de Moor, Bayo Akomolafe, Melanie Rieback, Srećko Horvat and Matthias Schmelzer, while a number of discussions and workshops were held on climate adaptation, welfare economics, masculinity and ecological crisis, planning for degrowth transition, etc. A workshop on the use of social media was also a part of this year’s program, as well as a working visit to the Island School for Social Autonomy (ISSA) on the island of Vis.
Along with the Institute for Political Ecology as the main organizer of the Green Academy, the partners who greatly contributed to the ninth edition of the Green Academy were the Green European Foundation (Brussels), Transnational Institute (Amsterdam), Heinrich Böll Stiftung (Belgrade, Sarajevo, Berlin), Rosa Luxembourg Stiftung (Belgrade), Center for Green Politics (Belgrade) and Zajedničko (Belgrade). This year we also received a big boost from the individual donations of our friends and associates.
