A week with Giacomo: degrowth and other topics, from Zagreb to Ljubljana

Giacomo D’Alisa, IPE’s 2017/18 Senior Research Fellow spent a week of September with us in Zagreb and Ljubljana.

Giacomo arrived to IPE on Monday September 18 and we spent the following three days on internal seminars and discussion. The seminars centered on degrowth and its various approaches and relationships with feminism, the state, climate change, etc, and on the development of IPE’s sustainability indicators (donuts).

On Friday we held a seminar in MaMa, where Tomislav Medak presented his paper “Technologies for an Ecological Transition – A Faustian Bargain?”.

On Thursday September 21 IPE’s delegation – Giacomo D’Alisa, Lilian Pungas, Mladen Domazet i Lana Pukanić – traveled to Ljubljana where we participated in two public events organized by EnaBanda.

The first one was a discussion on degrowth in Pritličje, where the speakers were Giacomo, Lilian and Mladen, and the moderator Ajda Pistotnik. You can watch it here:

On Friday morning there was a seminar in Ziferblat, with presentations by  Christine Plank, Giacomo and Mladen. On this occasion Mladen presented the initial results of IPE’s research on sustainability indicators.

After the seminar we spent a sunny and convivial afternoon in Ljubljana.
